Blog 4

I have learned what my focus will actually be on this paper. Before writing in this blog i was wary to what i would actually be researching. However, after blog number 2 I finally realized what I am going to discuss and how I can research it. I have learned how to properly find books in the library.. to be honest i never knew how to do that so this process really helped me. I never checked out a book in my high school so I never really knew how to find books via database. (sad I know) I have learned what sources are credible and not and also what to look for when doing research. My inquiry question evolved from "Is religion bad for health?" to "How does religion affect ones health?" I have learned that I can do college level research if i just put my mind to it. I have also learned that my affiliation with religion is very slim. Depending on how my paper comes out and what more research I find I may become more religious or stay unaffiliated as i am now.

post très!

My audience can be several different people. I know that most people who are religious would be very interested in my topic. My topic is almost controversial, and i feel as if many people will have something to say about it wether they are religious or not. I feel as if this topic is very timely now more than ever. With religion being a huge part of politics and a presidential election this year, i feel like this is very relevant to our every day life. I am invested in this topic because I am actually interested in the findings and research that has been done. I think high school teachers didn't care about whether or not we cared about our topics. They were more than likely drained from teaching the same type of people every semester. With college professors, they see a variety of different people every day, every semester, every year. The college professors know that you will be able to use the skills that you learn now for other classes in the future.
I am already starting to see different viewpoints and i have just began to research. I know that I will see the viewpoint of the religious and non religious. I will see the benefits of having religion and the dark side to not having one.
I have learned that the stress that is emitted from following a religion can actually be harmful to ones health.
I chose to read Taylor Williams last blog, mainly because thats the only name i could recognize from the class. After reading this I realized that she is rather passionate about her topic. The amount of time and effort she is going to invest in the topic will be sure to make an interesting paper. I think instead of just focusing on just certain points of the body caffeine affects, she should do the whole body health.

Second Blog Post Wooo!!

So far I have found several very interesting resources. My most informative is an online article about whether or not religion is beneficial to ones health. It is a two part article, one stating how it can be very helpful for your wellbeing. The other half describes how the stress of religion can cause more problems than it fixes them. The article is written by Clay Routledge, Ph. D. called "Is Religion Bad for Your Health?" very clever however it states some interesting findings in recent studies.
My topic has changed a little. I am going to elaborate on the findings of religion being bad for your health. Not because Im not religious, but because this is a topic i have never really stumbled upon in my life, living in the Bible belt of the US.
I feel like I am going to have a difficult time finding more topics that support the negative of religion, however I am not bias to either side. I am still interested in what has been found about the positive affects of religion.

English 1102 Blog numero uno

I have narrowed down my research question to "Is it healthy to be without religion?"I chose this because everyone around this part of the nation seems to be extremely religious, and I am not. I would like to see if there are any differences between me and a religious person. This topic can be very controversial and many people have input on the situation so i would be interested to find out what others have to say. I expect to see lots of pro religion and you are a sinner if you don't believe, only because this is the experience and vibe i have gotten from this topic before. I have found that most people are out to recruit you and make you a believer. They see the ones that are not religious at ones that are lost. I am open to any idea or belief of a higher power, I am just not completely convinced in the situation.
